AWGCOR Bloom
A real-time 3D flower that changes as you scroll: it unfurls as a rose, scatters into a vortex, re-forms as a lotus and ends as a glowing orbital bloom.
- Built by AWGCOR
- Real-time 3D in the browser
- No model files
The situation
Most 3D on the web is a model you can spin. We wanted the scroll itself to be the story: every turn of the wheel changes the object on screen, and scrolling back plays it in reverse.
What we did
Bloom is built in three.js with no model files. Each petal is one flat strip bent into shape on the GPU by a custom shader; all 34 are drawn in a single instanced call and re-posed every frame from the scroll position, arranged at the golden angle of 137.5°. The same geometry becomes a rose, a lotus and a glowing orbital bloom, with a petal vortex and a warp dive between them, lit with physically based materials, bloom, lens effects and a pollen particle system.
The result
One self-contained page of about 72 kB that loads three.js from a CDN and renders live in the browser. It adapts its layout for phones, calms its motion for visitors who ask for reduced motion, and still reads as a page if WebGL is unavailable.
