How to get this right.

What each format is actually for
PNG is lossless and keeps transparency — right for logos, icons and screenshots with text. JPG is lossy with no transparency — right for photographs. WebP does both jobs and is smaller than either, which is why it is the sensible default for anything going on a website.

Transparency does not survive a trip to JPG
JPG has no alpha channel at all. Converting a transparent PNG to JPG has to put something behind it, and this tool uses white. If you need transparency, convert to WebP instead.

Converting will not recover quality
Turning a heavily compressed JPG into a PNG gives you a lossless copy of a damaged image, at several times the file size. Format conversion moves data between containers; it cannot invent detail that was already thrown away.

Does converting to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG is lossless, so it preserves exactly what it was given — including every JPG artefact already baked in. The file gets bigger and looks identical.

Can I convert HEIC photos from my iPhone?

Only if your browser can decode HEIC, which Safari can and most others cannot. If the file will not load, export it as JPG from Photos first.

Is there a watermark?

No. There is no watermark, no sign-up and no limit on how many files you convert.

What quality does it use for JPG and WebP?

92%, which is visually lossless for almost all images. If you want control over that, use the compressor instead.
