Use it to test the layout, not to fill the page
Placeholder text is for checking how a design behaves at a given length. It is not a substitute for knowing what the page needs to say — and designs signed off on lorem ipsum routinely fall apart when the real, longer, less tidy copy arrives.

Test the extremes, not the average
Set it to three words and check nothing collapses. Set it to two hundred and check nothing overflows. The middle case always looks fine; the edges are where layouts break.

Never ship it
Lorem ipsum reaching production is common enough to be a running joke, and search engines index it. Search your codebase for "lorem" before any launch — it takes seconds and has saved a lot of people.

About this tool.

Where does lorem ipsum come from?

It is scrambled Latin from Cicero's De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum, written in 45 BC, used as typesetting filler since the 1500s. It survives because it has roughly the same letter distribution as English without being readable, so nobody starts editing it by accident.

Should I use real text instead?

Whenever you can. Real copy exposes problems placeholder text hides — headlines that are actually long, names that do not fit, empty states nobody planned for.

Can I get a specific word count?

Yes. Choose "Words" and enter the number. The counter under the output confirms exactly what you got.

Does the HTML option work for sentences?

Paragraph tags only wrap paragraphs. For sentences or words the option is ignored, since wrapping a single sentence in a paragraph tag is rarely what anyone wants.
