Worth knowing

Quotes that win the work.

  1. 01

Describe the result, not your process

Line items like "Five-page website, mobile-ready, with contact form" get approved. Items like "Phase 2 sprint" get questions. Write each line so the person who signs off the budget, not just your contact, can understand it.

  2. 02

    Say what is not included

Most disputes after a quote is accepted are about scope. One line in the notes — "Not included: copywriting, stock photos" — prevents more arguments than any contract clause.

  3. 03

Put an expiry date on it

A quote without a valid-until date can be accepted months later at old prices. A clear expiry also gives you a natural reason to follow up before it lapses.

Questions

About this tool.

A quote is a fixed price for a defined piece of work: if the client accepts it, that is the price. An estimate is your best guess and can change as the work becomes clearer. Call the document what it is, and if it is an estimate, say what would make the final figure move.
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark on the PDF and no limit on how many quotes you make. It runs entirely in your browser, so it costs us nothing to run and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
30 days is the most common choice, and the default here. Use 14 days if your costs move quickly, such as materials or contractor rates, and longer only for large projects where the client needs time to get approval.
Press "Download PDF". Your browser's print dialog opens with only the quote showing; choose "Save as PDF" as the destination. Every modern browser can do this without extra software.
For new clients and for any job longer than a couple of weeks, yes. A deposit of 25 to 50 percent confirms the client is serious and covers your early costs. Set it in "Deposit to start" and the amount appears under the total.
